DSL 500Mbps from Ericsson
Telecom equipment maker Ericsson says it is unlikely possibility: 500Mbps transmission speeds over ordinary copper cable. View the details, though, it is clear that the news will not give a reason for Verizon to rethink its very expensive fiber-to-home strategy that … or that the speed will come to your DSL line anytime in the near soon.
DSL, which depends on the twisted-pair copper cable is commonly used around the world, suffered a series of problems such as increasing the distance between home and office with the DSLAM. Crosstalk, which is one of the disturbances that cause the wire strand, along with the increased distance, for one thing. Using crosstalk cancellation technology and a short line length 500m, Ericsson is able to see the sustainable data transfer speeds that are more than enough 0.5Gbps. It’s the latest telecom maker to report a potential to increase the speed on the copper cable.
